Lucas702 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 What are the differences between these two? I am looking around for something that will help boost up my voltage in the RCAs because my alpine doesn't seem to be pushing out enough. What would be better for that, and maybe help out the sound quality if possible? Also, what would be the best bang for the buck EQ/x-over for like $125 max? Thanks guys, all input appreciated!
The Performer Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Crossover sets limits on what frequencies get to what speakers. EQ sets how the music is reproduced as in what level at what frequency. Your alpine should probably be putting out enough, what's the problem? CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! HHR Ed Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 how do you know you dont have enough signal voltage? you'd be surprised that some amps work better off of about 2-2.5v. But you can just get a line driver. It just boosts signal voltage and nothing else. a crossover will filter out frequencies. for example, a 3 way x-over will have HP, LP, and BP. the HP filters out bass, the LP filters out highs, and BP filters out bouth and leaves midrange. an EQ gives you the abilitiy to adjust the level of certain frequencies. usually on 1/3 per octave adjustments based on the 20hz-20K hz range. Mostly they maintain the same voltage level and the adjustments allow you to reduce the level of that particular frequency. You can get an x-over and EQ that also is a line driver. Lucas702 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Well its more like the sub channel, it is way weaker than what my old sony deck putout. I have to turn my 08zx750.1 gain all the way open and bass boost almost all the way too to put out about 800 watts at 2 ohms, and the birthsheet reads 920 watts.

Have you adjusted the amp gain to compensate? and is the sub level on the deck turned up? if so, sounds like you just want a line driver Ed Lester ShowtimeSPL Host Showtime Electronics Video MarketingMy old Build Loghttp://www.stevemead...08/#entry511451http://www.youtube.com/showtimespl 5 time dB Drag Finalist Last ride 2007 HHR, current dB 153.5 and bass race 149.4 dB. 153.0 dB on music New Ride, 2008 HHR SS. Lucas702 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Well the sub level is all the way to 15 on the deck, gain maxed out and bass boost almost maxed. Its weird because my 4 channel doesnt need the gain maxed to be putting out proper voltage. Could I just get an EQ for the same price as a line driver, I found a Clarion I believe is nice (Don't know much about EQs though!) that puts out 7v RMS it says. Is there a different product that would be better than this one for not a huge amount? Thanks Link: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16889 EDIT: Deck is an Alpine CDA-9855
Lucas702 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 anybody? What would you suggest?
