ISO Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) OK so I'm gathering that a decent amount of comps around here put you in your class depending on your 4 ohm rating. My question is who will I get to compete with if I'm doing 3,000 watts @ 4 ohm and everyone else is around 500 to 1,000 watts @ 4 ohm but doing 3,000 watts at 1 ohm. Why are the comps going by 4 ohm rating instead of how much power your useing. I'm serious. I will be one of the only people around the area that has an incredibley high 4 ohm rating. I don't fully understand the rules for what class I would be competeing. Please help. brewer_brewer Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) its kinda dumb but this is how it was back in the day of cheater amps. us amps and others had amps that were rated low at 4 ohms but would put out alot more power at lower ohms. its good for you if you have a low 4 ohm rating. which in your case you don't. you'll just have to make up for it with actual install and know-how. what events are these by the way? local shops? To be honest I have not planned on doing any competeing until very recently, so for the most part I shrugged off reading any threads that had to do with competition and haven't done any reading or studing on what the rules are and different leages are in this area. I look at strapped amps as 1 single amp. strapped pair counts as 2 amps ...if your amp makes <<<<example 3000 @ 4 ohms ..you will be in the 1501-up class...if it a competition only show ... NSPL ....doesnt use 4 ohm rating .....they clamp your amps ...it avoids ...cheater amp issue Quote
