Soldering 0ga

Recommended Posts

Although I've been building boxes and installing for 8 or 9 years now, I've actually never soldered. Had a friend who I did a lot of installs with that would usually do it. Not sure why I never learned from him. Anyways, I checked out the stickied topics here and they helped quite a bit.

I more or less used the method Steve showed. Heating the top part of the ring, got a good puddle going, then heated the bottom part of the ring so the solder sucked down into the wire. Enough that a little bit dripped out the bottom. Then put another puddle on top and tried to get it to flatten out.

Edit: N/M on the question I had. It seems these came out pretty solid for me. Guess I shall see when I actually get to run my wiring.

No, I didn't use any flux. Just 60/40 rosin core solder with a good ole propane torch.
