As mentioned by a few ^^^....

Running diff size subs IS the same principle as running same sized but diff brand subs.

The key here is DIFFERENT.

Even when you run 2 "exactly same" subs, they still will be different to some degree.

The subs produced at the manufacturer are going to have specs that fall within a "range" in any case. Some companies have higher/lower tolerances on this range (i.e. actual resistence, Pe/rms/max wattage, Vas and other measured T/S parameters)

The closer the specs are the more likely they will perform similarly and the less likely you will hear a difference or think it sounds "bad".

Thus the MORE different a set of subs are in any given setup, the more LIKELY that there will be "problems"...but to what extent?

Good/bad is personal thing so thats kinda up in the air until you listen to it, and even then you could have someone else hear it after you tell them it's awsome and have them be unimpressed or vice versa.

That you won't know w/ out MUCHO experimentation.

In that other thread I mentioned that THAT is the gamble. Unless you can and/or want to take the time to build a whole bunch of diff setups and power them differently until you find the optimum combo, it's pretty much anybody's guess. Based on the amount of "experience" with "the ins and outs" of box building and diff sub characteristics, I'd say Forevrbumpn is prolly the most versed in that area on this site and he'd prolly just say sell the ones you like the least and buy some matching subs to minimize the uncertainty.

Maybe that clears it up a lil better.

And seriously I was not trying to be dismissive or mean, Its just finals week here and Im tryin to minimize my time "dodgin studying".

ok to the untrained ear it will sound like 2 12 orions and 1 12 l5..it wouldnt get crazy loud but will get loud....or some what loud..that help out some???yes, no, mabey so???

Well I guess it all comes down to personal preference. I know some people that think one L7 15 is crazy loud but I would prefer two of them because its not "loud enough." Then you have others that prefer quality of the sound over how loud it is. We all have different personal preferences that change as we get more experienced. Like earlier said, the only real opinion matters is loganuf's since it will be his setup. Maybe over time he will switch things out but right now it is what it is.

I guess it depends on what type of subs you mix. Some mixed subs won't sound as bad while others do.

Mixing brands/sizes will cause cancellation to some point. Some people will not notice it, but some will. the only time I have heard mixed setups I was less than impressed every time. iMO you should just stick to running like brand and sized subs

jep it will be a problem, for people like you it wont be but for people like a lot on this forum it will.

just dont do it, the only way u can do it is like, in a 2 or 3 way component and using a 8 or 10 inch maybe 12 using as a mid for kickbase but to do it like this will cost a lot of time :D

like some other people already said, dont do it, or it depends on the ears that are listening to.
