Kenwood Kac-7204?

I have been asking so many questions here and getting good feedback. Thanks again.

So, I think I'm going to return this Sony Xplod 800W XM-ZR1252and go with a Kenwood KAC-7204.

The damn Sony can only be turned up 40% before it distorts badly, and the bass is just a bare minimum. This replaced my old Rockford Punch 250a (which I blew out running bridged to dual 4-ohm subs). Before I killed it, I really liked the sound.. perfect amount of bass. (125 w RMS x 2 where what both put out)

If you've seen my posts you see I have a tendency to get crappy gear, but when it comes to an amp, I usually want it to be something reliable.

This should be quite a bit louder, no?

I want something from 150 to 200 watts RMS into each of 2 channels, and low pass (of course). If anyone has any other suggestions at this $115 (cheap!) to $150 price-range, I'm open.

I was going to get that MTX Terminator 4 channel for about $25 (lol) but its still going to be probably barely enough powa.

Man do I want to pull the trigger on this amp and get it in my hands. I just really want the 170 watts to sound as loud or louder than my Punch 250 was bridged.

Sounds to me like you're not sure what you're doing. Are you saying it distorts when you turn up the amp? Are you refering to turning up the gain? The gain knob is not a volume knob.

Kenwood amps have a tendency to get really hot in my opinion. I've seen sony's do actually quite well for their price.

worse case scenario is I blow out the two speakers and have to start over. I can build a box pretty easy for cheap, but I currently don't see the need.

I just need something that will push from about 150-200 to each speaker.. I know that is going to be loud enough to satisfy me.

That website jizzybizzy posted looks like just the ticket. It gives me specs (where the cheap amps often don't have them listed) and actually has reviews.
