civichatch
hey everyone i got a question for all of ya. Im going to be upgrading my sub in the near future and was wanting some input on wat i should get. Im looking for 1 15 inch dual 4 ohm sub. I will be running a MTX mxa 6001 amp rated at 774 watts rms at 2 ohms. It will be going in a sealed box but may change to ported. I have limited space or i would be going for 2x15's or 18's. Im willing to spend $400-$500 Canadian thanks for reading and any input would be appreciated. andym85
good sub...also check out the FI SSD... www.ficaraudio.com u can get the dual 1 ohms and wire it up to 2 ohms.. Quote i likes me some audio stuff...
civichatch
really how do u wire dual 1 ohm into 2 ohm?? i no of wiring dual 4 ohm into 2 ohm. sean 371
you wire it in series...pos off amp to pos on first coil, neg off first coil to pos on second coil, neg on second coil to neg on amp. that'll double resistance. I'd recommend either of the ones posted above. I was about to recommend the R, but both that and the SSD would work real well off that amp. edit: try sonicelectronix.com for the type r, its $45 cheaper. andym85
coil one: wire the negative to the positive on coil two and wire the positive to the negative on coil two...then from coil two run the positive to the positive on the amp and the same with the negative... This isn't super clear, I think we're saying the same thing. But I think you have extra (unnecessary) wires thrown in there. civichatch
pos off amp to pos on first coil, neg off first coil to pos on second coil, neg on second coil to neg on amp. that'll double resistance. I understand exactly wat your saying. Now wat wil the advantage be in the end if i run a dual 1 ohm into 2 ohms,or if i run a dual 4 ohm into 2 ohms. Wats the benefit of running dual 1 ohm into 2 ohms?? sean 371
pos off amp to pos on first coil' date=' neg off first coil to pos on second coil, neg on second coil to neg on amp. that'll double resistance.[/color'] = Total resistance. R1, R2, and R3 being your different resistances. When working with resistances of the same value, it becomes super simple.
