Colin - STAPUFT Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 So... what else is there to do to a 23 year old Astro Van? Why- keep it on the road of course. Heater core took a dump. So- replaced and all ready to rock and roll again. Amazingly enough- this was easy. Quite possibly one of the easiest fixes I have had to do on this van. ...even easier than changing the plugs or air filter! lol 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. MrSkippyJ Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 man it sucked. It was winter time so I had to have some defrost. I had to wait till my engine was warm before i could turn it on. Apparently the leak was small enough that the warm coolant would expand stuff and seal it up. I didn't actually do the work (not sure why I made it seem like I did in my post before) so I never go to see what was actually leaking. Colin - STAPUFT Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 ^ haha. Some are worse than others, that is for sure. I really thought an Astro would be bad, but it was really easy once I figured out where everything was. This one had leaked some years ago, but stopped after I put like a million things of radiator stop leak, head gasket sealant and so on in the cooling system. That was back when I was in school and didn't have time or the want to pick up a wrench. ...After all of that Cylinder Head and Head Gasket work, I guess flushing the system finally unplugged the stopped up leak in the heater core too. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain.
