reinke Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 i just bought 2 cerwin vega vega series 12's and i need some help on a box. there specs call for 1.75 cubes with a 4" aero port that is 8.5" long. i have no idea what that tuning is. also does this sound right at all. i am gonna be using a crunch 1500.1 and it is going in my f150 ext. cab. can someone help me design a box please? ----reference's---- meade916
reinke Posted April 8, 2009 Author Report Posted April 8, 2009 alright guys i know it has only been like 5 hours since i posted this but i need some help. should i just follow the specs or what should i do? i usually tune all my boxes to around 38 htz. but, my truck is peaking around 55-56 htz right now. the tuning freq. Cerwin-Vega call for is 41htz. i just want it to sound good on music i dont care about a score until late may. ----reference's---- meade916

That might explain why my friend's two 12'' Cerwin Vegas vmax had so much kick compared to my two eD's. Nightshade Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Harley, do a box that is 4.5 cubes after displacement and 4 4" aeroports at their stock length of 18" which only 17" is usable. That will tune the box to 39ish hz and will make good use of the power that you have on hand. What it is the box is designed a little bit bigger to help with the efficiency of your sub. It will still get loud and hopefully get you over a 140. I know that you've been working very hard to get that truck loud and have had back luck. I wish I was still in Ohio cause I'd build you a box that would slam, or keep trying until we got one that did.
