I'm sorry to say but you're wrong. Obama's platform on guns is based on outlawing handguns, not semi-automatics for any rifles or otherwise.

The majority are, of course. Though the majority of rifles are also now semi-automatic. If he outlawed semi-automatic weapons, then that would leave some shotguns, muzzle-loaders and a handful of others.

What you are think of is the banning of Semi-Automatic guns, which has pros and cons to it

I see no reason to ban semi automatic guns of any sort.

That's one of the issues I worry about is the ban on weapons and such. A really good argument that proves why it is a nonsense idea to ban them is that even if you ban these weapons it would only affect the people that buy them for perfectly safe reasons. People that go to a gun store and are eligible to purchase a firearm is fine. The way that our system handles gun sales is perfectly fine how it is, if you want to buy a firearm, you go through a background check and if you clear then you are fine to make your purchase.

On the other hand, say you're buying a gun from a guy in the streets where there is no paperwork or information records that say you purchased that firearm. Usually if that's the case those people are the ones that we should be concerned about. If you take out the gun store, then that only affects the people legitimately purchasing firearms (which most of those people aren't committing crimes anyway) Doesn't change a damn thing about the illegal transfer of weapons, and ultimately does nothing to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals. (Drugs are illegal, yet people still get them and use them.)

Then almost always after that logic a good argument that is (usually) stated by liberals is "well there's no purpose for semi automatic weapons" Ok so maybe no, you don't NEED an AR15 to take with you in hunting season, but that's ultimately besides the point. As americans we have the right to buy that firearm whether we need it or not. People don't need tobacco and alcohol, but we have the right to buy it.

As also a problem with banning those weapons is the market that gets eliminated with the firearms. There's alot of money in the semi automatic firearms business and I would think at this time we needed to be spending as much money as we could to stimulate the economy.

heres to the OP, do you think 10 years ago or 15 or 20 years ago when the economy was a lot better, people don't do the things you said?

Pres can create bills too, all 3 branches can create them.

We go through recessions about every 6-10 years or so... its a fact and u can look it up

True, and there have been multiple depressions, including the Depression of the late 1800's, from 1929 - 1941 with the Great Depression, and in the 1970's.
