LSN2meBoom916 Posted February 25, 2007 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 I have a seen a couple REALLY clean and decent sounding (although not LOUD) setups using an INFINITE BAFFLE or "free air" like you described w/ subs mounted to a board and if done right it can get great SQ but will not win many spl comps. When I was a kid I went through the usual spitting of mdf a time or 2 before i learned the tricks. I almost set a fiberglass box on fire mixing the resin/hardener wee-bit too hot in the 100+degree cali heat and it started to smoke. I chilled it out w/ some ice cubes and in the end it overdried and cracked a lil but i just layed more glass over the top and made that area thicker and no-harm-no foul. Part of the problem was i tried to thicken up the resin w/ some MDF sawdust and that acted as fuel for the and seemed to accelerate the hardener. Yikes! I was freakin out and the ice cubes were sizzlin.
