The Saturn: Cant Stop There (dual 18's Upgrade)

Recommended Posts

Thanks guys and sorry I havent been on here in a long while...pretty sure my comp was getting really screwy and shut my internet off whenever I came to this site :(...but here's a chunk of work ive done in the past couple weeks.

I tore everything off/out of the ceiling and foamed everything...this cut down on rattling a TON and this has very few rattles now :D But the sunroof itself still is getting pushing/pulled a ton which will hopefully be fixed when a buddy gets it welded shut and supports welded in along the ceiling for a bit of bracing and then everything filled in with foam, then carpeted...im hoping them I will have a rock-solid ceiling and the sunroof simply will be uneffected by the bass :)

Here come the pics...

I took the sunroof out, sealed and foamed a few things, painted the inside of the sunroof black, and cut off the nonessential parts like the shutter tracks.

And my camera wasnt working so I took some with my phone..

And another reason why I love this car...took a minute to take the sunroof out :) older saturns ftw

I cut off 2 flimsy pieces of very thin sheet metal that were just shaking/rattling a bunch and then foamed some more (no pics of the foaming)

More cell pics..

Posted Image

And in that second pics, the piece with what looks like velcro marks on it was also taken out. The area where these piece were is where I plan on having a couple supports welded in and the area filled

Yea, sounds like a dream but even before this last foaming and the damplifier pro coming I barely have any rattles noticeable inside the car and barely anything outside of the car at darn near full tilt.

A little messy..

Posted Image

Posted Image

Cleaned up a bit..

Posted Image

Posted Image

This was the main cause of the rattling before, now its silent :)

Posted Image

Again, messy..but it'll get cleaned up after curing..

Posted Image

Plastic pieces that would vibrate/flap during loud and low notes...taken care of..

Posted Image

Posted Image

More pics when cleaned up and when the damplifier pro gets here but that will probably be used on the doors..should be rock-solid :)

If anybody missed it, the damplifier pro didnt get here and its scheduled to arrive tomorrow so it wont be going in until next weekend.

But I finally got my volt meter hooked up and my voltage is even more stable than I thought. I knew the drop at full tilt from comps etc but its nice to finally get this thing in. And there was a perfectly sized coin-holder area of my center console to put it..

Drilled a hole for the wires to run through..

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

The switch is kind of just chilling in the holder until I get a couple more switches in place to run inline with the amps remotes so I can turn them on/off as I wish. Pics when thats finished up

Wired into the rear batteries..

Posted Image

A random picture to throw in for good measure..

Posted Image

And as long as the car is moving over 10mph the voltage drop is pretty darn small (this is with just the single alternator for daily driving, the 2nd alt isnt hooked up for daily). Playing 'Trunk Bang' while the car is moving, during the higher notes it's only dropping to 13.8V going almost full-bore :)...And its always charging at 14.7-14.8V

Thanks man, but sadly the 30hz tuning is holding it back a good bit on the meter on burps, but it gets the lows the way I want them :) And with more than double the power I think we can see a good chunk more on the meter ;)
