First thing you have to do is charge the cap. You put the positive from the battery to the positive on the cap. Then take a 12 volt light bulb and touch the bositive on the cap an the negative on the cap. Make sure your ground wire from your cap goes to the same ground as your amp. once the light bulb dies that means the cap is fully charged.

And to wire it heres a diagram

BATTERY++++++++++(cap)+++++++++amp

Then the negative just goes to the same ground as your amps ground. Hope that helped. J.W wat cap do you have ???

The negative on the cap doesnt get connected to the amp at all. You just run the negative to the same ground as the amp uses. (same peice of metal u used to ground the amp)

And yes you dont run a negative from your battery to your cap. Unless you have already run a negative line off your bat.

You want the cap connected as close as possible to the amp to deliver those last second power surges when the amp needs it. So short power cable to the cap positive to the amp positive cable and also short connection between grounds. Ideally just get a distro block that hooks the cap inline with your power and ground cables. I dunno about others here but I'd always run a dedicated ground to your amps if you're running a lotta power. I wouldn't trust just the sheet metal, especially as the car body ground strap up front which connects the neg terminal of the OE battery to the chassis is usually not the largest gauge. No sense in running 1 gauge power cables and trying to rely on a pencil-neck ground strap to return the currect. :lol:
