Ground Wire

Ok so i need a new and easier ground for my ground wire. I was thinking about using a piece of metal and just drilling a hole in that. Would that work or would i have to cut a hole in my carpet and mount the piece metal on my chase?

Im asking if i can just use a piece of metal for a ground. Or do i have to attached the piece of metal to the chassie. I want a nice flat surface for my grounds.

yeah it has to be to the chassie.from what i know its that your whole ground runs off of your chassie an u cant just use any metal for a ground

if you have a uni body car, and have the done the big 3 prperly, then as far as i know any metal surface that is clean of paint and showing bare metal should be ok. Cars with frames/trucks have rubber body mounts therefore getting it to a frame rail is a must, but i might wrong and im sure someone will clarify.
