HPI_Savage25 Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Well I am torn between the two amps. If I go sundown 1200d it will be the refurb one. I also like that the sundown puts out 1200 at 12.8v Any thoughts on them? Thanks Breaking in a sub is like breaking in your girl before you pound her....
sully Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Sundown, refurb or not it is a beast 2003 Ford F-150 Reg Cab layin body on 26's 2003 Tahoe 3/5 drop on 26's with a 408cid Supercharged engine. 2011 Camaro 2SS 2005 VW GTI Stage II ECU, CAI, 3" turbo back exhaust, FMIC, lowered 2" on some plastidipped 18's 2003 Hayabusa lowered, stretched, cams, nitrous and custom paint
E a r t h Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 the 1200 sundown has virtually the same output as an saz 1500 @1ohm. so you're looking at more like 1500rms. i hear it also has a nice protection circuit just a FYI
HPI_Savage25 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 I have heard really good things from both but I saw the refurb's for pretty cheap and also comes with a 1 year warranty. 1500rms would still be pretty nice on some level 3's and I won't have to work the amp as hard. Derrick824 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Those sae-1200s are under-rated and capable of 1500w. It gets my vote.
HPI_Savage25 Posted May 3, 2009 Author Report Posted May 3, 2009 Sweet. I just gotta get the funds then. What kind of electric system will I need for a SAE 1200? Breaking in a sub is like breaking in your girl before you pound her....
xx24xx Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 AQ customer service is top notch too. Be aware that there is a very large amount of Sundown owners/fans so some feedback is hype and some is biased. They are both great amps. I would say new over refurb any day IMO. lP lR O Jl lE C T - C G 6 DD 9512G - DD M2A - DDA W - DD S4A - ALPINE W505 - IMPRINT
Derrick824 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 AQ customer service is top notch too. Be aware that there is a very large amount of Sundown owners/fans so some feedback is hype and some is biased. They are both great amps. I would say new over refurb any day IMO. I'll gladly debate the facts between the two as far as actual power output, efficiency, waranty, etc to keep the bias out of this discussion. I don't recommend products on bias. The sae-1200d is a more powerful amp. If this was any old Ebay refurb I would advise him against it but I know that all Sundown refurbs come from Chris @ dB-r who does top notch work. IMO he's the best there is and he offers the best refurb warranty there is.
