mtxcivic07
what do you mean fell off? You have the casing off or something. things just dont mysteriously come out of the amp. but....you did say you had it mounted on the box. It didnt just fall out. on the 7801 there is a space on the back that lets heat out. i tipped it to that side b/c i heard it loose in there and it came out. I talked to MTX about 30 minutes ago and they said it would cost $95 to fix. yeah, of course stupid shit like this happens to ME... im just a bad luck type of person with ALL shit that i do. Chris
Sounds like MTX has a design flaw on their hands for that model. I've seriously never seen a components just start to come undone from and amp. Either way 95bucks is a bitch, you have the option of trying to resolder it (if there are still leads connected to the cap) or paying for that shit. That cap is a PASSIVE electronic item and cannot be damaged as easily by heat as say a microchip or LED. Up 2 u... Chris
EDIT: I see now that you would have to buy a new 1000microfarad cap since one of the leads has pulled out of it. Or course, there are others loose as well though Quote 4 15" FI Q D2's in 12 cubes tuned to 32hz 1- T1000.1bd's 3 Maxx 29 deep cycles 4 runs of 1/0 gauge -Big 3 -Trunk sealed off from the cabin Custom 15.8 dual-volt switching MLA module All in a CAR. TheDave
Well I wouldn't say it is a design flaw but more like a Friday afternoon amp haha. Honestly though the part should probably be replaced and resoldering it will not likely solve the problem. I would spend the dough and have the factory do the work - they warranty it then right? mtxcivic07
Proves MTX= shit  yeah right.. mtx amps are ridiculously nice. i just got unlucky b/c of my box with the amp mounted on the back of it slamming into my Kinetik in the trunk.. thats what caused those pieces to become loose. they are fuckin nice amps too. dont diss MTX amps. their subs.. yeah.. you can diss em' they arent that great, but mtx amps are top-of-the-line, no matter what anyone says.
