What Is Better For A Ground Pounder

Recommended Posts

ive been reading up on this and ive heard it go both ways. they say 12's move more air than 15's but the 15's have fuller deeper bass. ive got a 97 cavalier and have the box sitting on the folded down backseat. I want my car to be really loud and to be heard from a long way away im not really into getting perfect sound from it. i need to know which way to go with it.

What, 12's move more air? News to me...

All the 'different subs do different stuff' is complete bullshit if you ask me. Randy's Asstro full of 10's dumps into the 20's and an 18 in the right box is just as punchy as a 10. It's all about the install. Yes they have slightly different Thielle Small Parameters but at the end of the day the box has a way way bigger effect.

My advice would be stick with the subs you have and get an amp and box that doesn't suck.

my math may be wrong but 2 12s will have more cone area.

6*6=36 36*2=72 72*3.14=226.08 (2 12s cone area)

7.5*7.5=56.25 56.25*3.14=176.625 (1 15 cone area)

Yea 2 12s have more cone area than 1 15, but in your post, you 2 12s vs 15s, not just 1 15.

it all depends on the subs themselves if you ask me

if you are talking same subs in 2 different sizes chances are the 15's are going to have a big advantage

but my 1 12" moves more air than my 2 15's that used to be in the box

if your talking about the same model subs, different sizes, a single 15 will be louder than a single 12. but if your comparing different subs and different sizes, then they will perform differently.

but just for comparison.

2 15's > 2 12's

2 12's > 1 15"

1 18 > 2 12's
