white4d96 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) I am thinking about some things I could do to dress up my car a little bit inside, and to better monitor parameters of the car. I have come up with two ideas so far: 1- LED's in the footwells. Maybe run a pair of those OPTX strips you can get at Advance. I have heard good things about them. Would probably be blue to match my HU...or red to match all the OE stuff (gauges light up red from factory) 2- Sunpro 3-gauge pod--has oil pressure, temp, and volt gauges. I am particularly interested in oil press (got the car cuz it lunched an oil pump and thus the motor) and volts (get a bad drop from my cruddy class AB amp). This runs about $30 locally. Now my questions are as follows: idea 1- Other than the strips, what else would I need to install these? I would probably just want to run them off a switch...I have tons floating around. idea 2- I am toying with a few ideas for installation. One would be in this little storage cubby on the dash, above the radio. Nothing stays in there and I think they would fit well. Other idea is under the dash. What would you guys suggest? Thanks in advance for the help EDIT: PICS OF IDEAS FOR GAUGES! In the cubbyhole thing over the gauges. It's supposed to be a storage pocket but nothing stays in there. Under the dash angled up. Buy an A-pillar pod and put the gauges in there. Edited May 27, 2009 by ktownsdriftking Quote Too many projects, too little time...
bassbaker15 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 I am actually getting some of those LED strips for under my dash, along with a few other places aroudn my truck, ive used them b4 and they are nice. And i have a spare cubby under my climate controls, i am getting a EQ and installing it there to get rid of the empty space... could be helpful for you as well, you never know. I have one of those sunpro tri guage pods for my truck, but i am getting another volt instead of temp, im going to have one testing the front and one on the back batterys, so i know there are no problems, and then the oil pressure is good cuz the factory one sucks. other things you could do, is paint, reapolster some of the little odds and ends to make them look better, more custom. BanginOnABudget Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) first off, optx are junk, dont buy them. the LEDs died out in what i got in like 2 days. i was going off EXACTLY 12 volts. if your gonna do LEDs, i would say do some research, then hit partsexpress.com. i know the OPTX are streetglow, but OPTX stands for optimum performance technologies, which is shit, there optx subs are worse than visonik, and the amp blew as soon as i switched to low pass, WHICH IT SAID IT WAS EXACTLY TUNED FOR. i lose 130 in 2 kits, and all i gotta say is, dont buy anything with a streetglow label unless its an underglow kit. EDIT: the only nice things that ive ever gotten from the OPTX line were the alan keys for the amp inputs. 14 gauge amp kit....jesus crist. I just liked the idea of getting two strips for semi-cheap and installing them; if they work they work, if they dont look good find some other way to use them. Anyhow, did a vote amongst some friends that have been in my car and 15-2, blue wins. So I am looking for blue LED strips or some other sort of footwell illumination kit. white4d96 Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 Do you think I should get the 12 inch tubes or the 6-light modules? I am not sure how many lights I would need to light the wells... Quote Too many projects, too little time...

I would say the 6 light if you want it a little more suttle.....but the 12 inch if you want it blatently obvious...
