Redfoday Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 ok so if you've read the title you know what i have it is a 2ohm dual vc. i know the RMS is 800 watts but i haven't the slightest idea of what the max is or what im safe to push it at without compromising sound quality of course. if you have any idea of the max wattage or if you have any suggestions of what amp i should use it would be much appreciated. thanks
white4d96 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Max wattage is just an inflated figure used by companies to make their amps and subs sound bigger than they are. NEVER GO BY IT!!!! Look only at RMS power numbers when pairing amps and drivers (speakers, subs, etc) Too many projects, too little time...
kirill007 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 I think he meant, what is the safest (maximum RMS) wattage to run a Fi SSD with Flatwind coil. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
Redfoday Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 I think he meant, what is the safest (maximum RMS) wattage to run a Fi SSD with Flatwind coil. pretty much. basically i was just wondering if anyone had an amp suggestion or some numbers i should be looking for
AI James Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 any 1k rms amp that does the 1k rms should make the ssd sound pretty nice
Redfoday Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 ok cool i was thinkin about runnin 1000 but i wasn't for sure. also, when i wire the sub to the amp how should i do it? shoud i do parallel wiring or sequenced? sequenced would give me a 4 ohm load and parallel will give me a 1 ohm load i believe
kirill007 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 If you're amp does 1000W at 1ohm wire it at 1 ohm, if you're amp does 1000w at 4 ohm wire it to 4 ohm. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
Redfoday Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 i wasn't sure if i should do a 1 ohm because many of the amps ive read about aren't stable at a 1 ohm load but i think ive found a few. thanks so much guys. ill get some pics up mayve a vid. my first box
