brsteinbach
Right now I have my 2 12" Infinities (sig) in a 2.5^3 box after dis. tuned to 30hz and it sounds totally horrible on the lows, I mean it doesn't get lower then 36hz and then I lose everything less. Measurements are W:36 X H:14 X D:15 3.3 before displacement and 2.5 after port and sub dis. Well I found out I can go bigger! 31 X 14 X 21 come out to be 4.1^3 before dis. and 3.3^3 tuned to 28hz after sub and port dis. I lost some port area but gained box volume while tuning low. 14 to 11 sq in. If any of you think this will help a significant amount please say. I love lows, and miss them. Guest
2.5cuft is super small for 2 12's. 11sqin of port per cuft is not alot...i dont know why you want to tune that low but to each his own. try to make the port a little wider, like half an inch. siucsaluki11
i know my box is too big for my subs, but they dont mind. I went from a 2.2 cube/chamber sealed box to 2 cube per chamber ported tuned to 34, now i got 5 cubes after displacement tuned to 30 and i love it. I dont have much port area, but it hits the lows really well for 2 12s off 900w total. I know 5 cubes is too big for these but i get such great lows out of it that i am hesitant to change my box. brsteinbach
If I go bigger on the port (3.5") i can get 13 sq in tuned to 30hz but then I only have 3.1 cubes. IDK if that will make a huge difference either way but I just really want lows. Oh and siucsaluki11 I would never change my box from 5 cube to something smaller unless I absolutely had to. lol. siucsaluki11
Ya, im workin up some new designs and i dont plan on losing any volume, i got some room to play with as far as a box for 2 12s is concerned. brsteinbach
Thanks James but Im a broke 17 y.o. But I guess if i go 3.5 in port and tune it to 30 hz that should be fine right? I will come up with 3.1 cubes with 13 sq in of port but I don't think thats a big enough box. Thats the biggest I can go to. AI James
whats the specs on your subs? and why are you persistant to try to tune that low
Decaf
if u need cutlist or 3d design same as james, pm for pricing per paypal... otherwise this is what i got you forgot speaker displacement which throws off ur numbers 31*14*21 3.22cuft@32hz 3" wide port 37.5sqin port 16.5" port piece #1, 3.25" port piece #2 slot port on either side i think the subs would rather be in 4cuft... thatd help lows more... more port area isnt necessarily going to solve that with those low power subs with little xmax, along with tunin low... those subs dont have a high spl or bl so the lower you tune you are really going to loose upper end like james was trying to get at
