they make 8ohm subs so they can be bridged to a 2ch amp @4ohm, but u dont see 8ohm single vc subs anymore hardly, now everythings either d6(audiobahn), d4, d3(jl audio) d2, d1.7, n d1 so i can wire anything about any kinda way u want to, but it helps sometimes when ur wireing multiple subs, mtx useto make 12ohm subs so u can wire 3 down to 2ohm for the 250d,500d,801d,1501d's they made a 3 10's box that was internally wired to 2ohm

jl is the only one i can think of that makes a svc 8ohm

Ummm ALOT and I mean ALOT of people make signle 8ohm coils.....JL and Boston are the only ones I can think of right now that make a single 3ohm coil.

lots of companies can.... offer different wiring configs specifically for ur application too

dd does from .35 and up

to the OP, the difference is the amount of wire... more wire = more resistance in a nut shell
