JZeFF
infinity kappa 6x9's Rockford Fosgate power 6.5" components in the door.. Powered by a DAT 4125 I have the amp tuned correctly for each set of speakers using a multimeter.. When i turn it up it just smells funny... kinda like an electrical smell.. I do have my 10" infinity kappa in a sealed box.. so i dont think its that. One time i opened my trunk and saw a littrle bit of white smoke... What should i be looking for so i dont damage anything... lanman31337
Keep looking for the magic smoke coming out of somewhere. How are your sub amp gains set? Berto
It's most likely your coils. And if you have your 6x9's in the stock location then there's most likely an opening to your trunk under them so that means your Kappas are the ones that are out, and that should explain the white smoke in your trunk. JZeFF
im assuming this is bad for the 6x9's???.... lol What can i do? I know the kappas are rated at 2ohm.. but i have heard that is just infinties way of advertising them better than they actually are.. Should i set the gains as if they were 4ohm instead of 2ohm? All i can really do is turn the gain down right? And does your amp go into protect? Quote TEAM FLEX ISSUES Car: 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal 24" Rims HU: 7" Carputer, Planet Audio EQ, iPhone. JZeFF
The amp has never gone into protect mode... as far as i know. Kinda worries me though, i have had a few quirks with the DAT amp so far... Can you look at a Voice coil and tell if it is burnt? And what should i do to prevent any further damage..... This is lame, lol. I know i have the amp tuned correct because i DID NOT want to blow any speakers... I guess that doesnt matter... Another thing to note... i have some engine noise.. (a high pitched whining) coming from the 6x9's.. it is RPM dependent... Its only during acceleration though.. cruising it goes away.. So.. what do i do... im kinda just at a blank to what i am supposed to do now... wL<3bass
You need to check your gains and HU features....I'm willing to bet your either majorly clipping them or you have loudness feature or something of that sort.
