good bye sundown hello orion

some might think i am stupid. but, i recently purchased a sundown 3000d. i kept it for maybe a week, never hooked it up or anything. i traded it the other day for 2 american bass vfl extremes, a orion hcca 275g4 and a clarion HU. i used to have a 275g4 in high school and lover it. i have never even heard the vfl extremes on music but with what they can do in db drag i am hoping they are almost as loud for music. i have heard that they can and will blow if i play music for extended periods of time. hopefully someone with experience with these woofers can chime in though. my plan is to do a ported box subs forward and ports up in my f150. i really want to do a 4th order bandpass but my cousin told me they are good for only one note or for one song. i am sure i will end up building one though. either that or buying a prefabbed one. thats all i used to run back in the day. grant it they were all prefabbed 4th orders but i love them. anyways here are some pics.

imo i wouldn't trade mine for all that but if you're happy with it thats all that matters bro.

post some build pics when you build the box

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

how is that a good buy??

He traded a brand new $800 sundown amp that never ever seen power, for 2 used subs that cost not even $200 brand new, The cheapest Clarion headunit made that is $85 brand new, and a 10 year old used amp that is only 1200wrms that appears to be missing its power plugs.... Yea thats a nice amp 10 years ago when they where made.... but the sundown is 20 times better.

he got took, big time...

Id seruously trade back...

A buddy that owns a shop in greenbay wi that sells them. I know their prices, not to mention I use to run a lot of american bass products.

I am also an orion dealer at the shop I work for, and had two 800g4s about 10 years ago when they came out with 2 of the older hcca woofers. These amps where great amps back in the day with their miltary spec pc-board, but they sell on ebay now a days for around $300.

Heres your plugs on ebay that you need to hook up your amps power reinke...

$40..
