fritosaregood Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 thanks guys. i just reconed those subs to 1ohm coils so now im running each amp at .5ohm. rising to 3.3ohms, 1000w per woofer plans for a new box are in the works. I wonder if you could burp the amps with a strapped load of .25?? I got a recone for my 18 that is a dual .87 coil. so ill be burping at .45 strapped, and maybe attempting music. Ive been thinking about another box for me too, tuned at like 55 or so for some burps. I also have 2 more tsns motors to play with. seller feedback: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=61719 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=68281 build log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=44800 Gf's build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/54346-kickergirls-camaro-new-box-pg-5/#entry753970

Now how did you clamp that? Your amps are strapped right? you had the clamp meter around both positive leads and DMM in one of the - and + correct? Because you got a 6.6x rise buddy, thats pretty damn high.. Something isnt right.. 2007 Chevy HHR LT UNDER CONSTRUCTION 1st Place Loud N Low 2010 MWSPL Finals 3rd Place Xtreme 3 2010 MWSPL Finals
skittlesRgood Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 I wonder if you could burp the amps with a strapped load of .25?? I also have 2 more tsns motors to play with. they were strapped at .5 when i got my 150.4 but i had nasty voltage drop so i reconed to 1ohm coils to run each amp at .5 unstrapped. Now how did you clamp that? Your amps are strapped right? you had the clamp meter around both positive leads and DMM in one of the - and + correct? Because you got a 6.6x rise buddy, thats pretty damn high.. Something isnt right.. ok, i made a bit of a mistake, they arnt rising to 3.3 they rise to 2.3. when they were strapped i had 6x rise. started at 2ohm rose to 12+. so i wired to .5 strapped and rose to 2.x giving me 3500w. now with each amp rising to 2.3 im getting 1000w per woofer. so obviously the rise is still a problem and we cant seem to figure out why. i think its the aero ports. im getting a lot less rise at 34hz but im loudest at 41hz, where the box is tuned to and i have this high imp rise. any thoughts there? skittlesRgood Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 eh, not really the same thing but whenever you put the box in a car it'll change the tuning. so it may just be that. i didnt ever think it made that big of a difference. it would explain why i can play lower than my tuning and not bottom out. Eric B Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 All I can say is try different boxes and other things. Maybe try making it a lil bigger, smaller ect. skittlesRgood Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 All I can say is try different boxes and other things. Maybe try making it a lil bigger, smaller ect. Imp rise is the biggest bitch in the world! my next testing day ill be sticking shit into my box to take up more airspace and see what happens. other than that, next week mr.p and i are making some boxes for a 10" and seeing how they react in my car. this imp rise is a bitch man. some people say bigger box, some people say smaller, some people say least rise at tuning some people say most rise at tuning. about to pull my damn hair out. oh wait, i already cut it all off. i say 12" sub 12" sonotube witha 10" flared tube for port noooo lol. they will never fit... unless each sub gets like... 1 cube. not very musical. Eric B Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Its jus like my HHR man... imp rise is always high no matter what I do and I can tune at 33 it'll be the same as tuning at 39. When I did that my peak and score stayed the exact same along with my imp rise... now with my wall I still have a 3x rise but tuned at 37 and can still drop to 27 no problem but peak at 37 which is odd but nice... its just weird shit.. 2007 Chevy HHR LT UNDER CONSTRUCTION 1st Place Loud N Low 2010 MWSPL Finals 3rd Place Xtreme 3 2010 MWSPL Finals
skittlesRgood Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 damnit, i was hoping you would have a direction for me to go lol. i think drew said it best. in car audio you go into a project knowing that "A" is "A" and "B" is "B", then when your done you find out "A" is "yellow" If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude.
