Maybe, but with his avatar, you're in trouble ;-p

Hi all, I'm Kevin from Calgary (Canada).

It's too damned cold to do much of anything outside half the year here (I even pull dow my back seats so the sub warms up before I crank it!) but it doesn' stop the hardcore. I had a car stereo before I had a car but got away from it for a while. I have an old, somple system but it works. Don't want to sink much money into the car because it may not be around too much longer, and my main hobby (Cuban cigars) is REAAAAAAAAALY expensive.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey whazzup, I go by Bukko, and found SMD one day on Youtube after seeing a few bass setups, and naturally it led me to the BOSS. I've been watching the videos and have been really impressed with Steves quality work and determination / attention to detail. I know this sounds cheeseball but it's pretty damn inspiring, and I'm not and have no experience in the bass culture. When I was in high school etc.. I saw my first bass competition back in '96 or '97.. and remember seeing my first bass wall. My dad was a mechanic, and had always brought me to local races ever since I was 4.. but this was completely new to me. I remember the look on his face when he saw my interest in boom. Needless to say it was enough to eventually rule out my research into it or attempting my own. Yadda yadda.. I won't give you guys the sob story, but I'm glad to see someone like Steve on here be so cool about it, teach, and show you how to do things the correct way.

I mainly listen to metal music, so my thing is having a clean tight sounding bass, and I really like the hidden look idea. My first attempt at anything bass related was a dumb little 10" Infinity Basslink. I had this guy I knew that had installed his system help me as I knew nothing about where to even begin. It was pretty impressive to me, giving me mostly what I needed, but I was losing alot of flow when the trunk was closed in my 2001 Olds Aurora. Thought about drilling a hole in the bottom of the trunk to let the air flow.. but never did. It always got louder though when the trunk was open. Unfortunately that burned out on me after 3 months, (could have been the wiring who knows?) I was too lazy to send it back.. so now I have a dead little sub in my trunk. I Saw the monthly contest, and was interested.. but you guys have insane setups! Props. I've watched quite a few of Steves videos on Youtube a little while back,(I think the last update was around when Steve got his white Lexus awhile back) and just started watching the updated videos again. Floating objects / hair tricks are pretty badass. Have any of you guys thought about mounting a few little nubs on the outside of your doors for "decoration"? You know chicks will accidently lean into it. HA! just a thought...

Anyway I hope to learn a thing or two here, and any tips you guys have for me would be most appreciated. I'm thinking of one day getting a clean and discrete setup..and can't think of anywhere else better to get help. Once I win the lotto, or fall into money somewhere I'd love to one day get my personal dream car decked out by Mr. Meade, so I'll post it here in hopes that one day it'll come through, and maybe give me more motivation to make it happen.

I didn't mean to write a book.. haha, but keep doing what you do. Nice to meet you all.

(about 3 years ago I ran into this '65 Buick Rivi and hope I can get a clone with a few alterations like murdering it out and some bump.)
