need ported box experts help

Noobish questions i hope some experts can help me with:

1)should i follow the ebp (efficiency bandwidth product) of a subwoofer?

2) I already have a design for a single sub ported, what if i want to make it 2 subs... i double the box volume and double the port? or double the box volume and using 1 port same as a single sub? (2 subs having the same box frequency..)

3) is ABC ( aperiodic bi chamber) better than regular ported for spl?

4) For spl purposes, should i aim for a flat response from my enclosure? ( pls explain reply...)

well i think that these are basic terms and i have a lot more to learn maybe you guys can enlighten me.

I'm thinking of using memphis pr 12 dual 4 sub/subs

but the epb formula says i use it for sealed.

I tried it also on bassboxpro and it recommends a sealed enclosure. so i was wondering if this ebp is important.

Also should i double the port diameter if using 2 subs and maintain the length?

im trying to fit in a constrained 12" x 14" x 35" ...so not so much space.for amp ill be using a memphis pr 500.1

1) you dont have to, if i find the ebp of my subs it tells me to put them in a sealed enclosure, they do quite well ported, need to design a new one though, got some experimenting to do.

2) No, its not quite that simple, there are some calculations you gotta do.

3) aperiodic boxers are more for SQ than SPL iirc. They are supposed to have a damn near perfecly flat response curve if you do it right, which is a PITA from what ive heard.

4) Honestly, the best SPL boxes have the worst response curve youll ever look at, they peak really hard at one single note usually. Thats a dedicated SPL box. If youre doin a daily setup, youre probably lookin for a blend of SQ and SPL, SQL. You want a flat curve for daily/sq usually.

Youd be surprised what people know, some of the stuff you know is beyond most beginners, seems yove done a little research yourself before asking questions. That box is gunna be too small for 2 12s ported. 2.5 cubes before displacement is what i came up with for those measurements. Id suggest stayin sealed with that small amount of space.

So Ebp is important if youre aiming for a flat response.

im thinking of using 1 memphis pr sub with a total of 3 cubic (woofer and port displacement not included)

should i just choose a desired frequency for my box? or use some formulas like butterworth's or keele's for the tuning frequency?

I know these can be done with softwares but i want to test this doing manual calculations just to see/hear what it'll sound like.

maybe some of you can suggest some ways for me to do this, im leaning on the the sq/spl (sql) approach.

try to tune between 32 and 34 hz for daily. The flatter the response the better it will sound over a large selection of music.

does the position of the sub in the enclosure affect the sound? how far/near from the port should the subwoofer be?

Ok got it, so if the port is on the left side. my sub would have to be on the farthest right.
