you have to remember, stereo shops arent there for us, theyre there for everyone else. the people who cant tell an ohm from an amplifier, those are the people that go to stereo shops. People who cant install themselves. People who insist two type s's sealed are louder than "some rocksferd fosthergates" in a ported box. People who really believe their jensen flipout puts out 240 watts.

the people who dont know how good it can be, what it is, or how do to it themselves, benefit greatly from someone that can give them a working system in their budget that does what they want and will be fixed if anything ever does happen, and youre not getting that shit anywhere online.

I deal with atleast 2 people a day who dont even know enough about stereos to let me know what they are looking for, they cant tell a radio from a dashkit from a subwoofer, and I have to just point to stuff until they go "oh yea, thats exactly what I'm looking for"

and not all shops rip off people that know what theyre doing, its not uncommon for me to sell like stinger lvl 3 rca;'s for like a dollar a foot, or 10 dollar dashkits, or 6 dollar hi/lo's. some places really jerk you, other places the people realize theyre better off having you come back every week and tell your friends that the shop rocks, than ripping you off once.

If you sell stinger lv3 rca's for a buck a foot your losing alot of money

some of these prices I'm seeing are above retail and that is a problem.

Stinger hpm 1/0 retails for 7.25 a ft

so yes 9-10.00 is wayyy over priced.

If you walk into a retail shop and asked if they could do 5 a ft most shops would.

If you want it cheaper than that, then why even bother with going to a shop

let's see. There was a refrence to shops getting decks at 50.00 and selling for 300. Never happens

let me let u in on a secret. The deck alone has hardly any profit in it

for instance. I buy a very well known brand cd player for 82.00 and it retails for 99.99

aside from that. Accy's are where profit is to be made so if there is some cabling or d-block you need don't be affraid to haggle a little. Asking him to cut the price in half is not fair but we do have some wiggle room. And trust me. We would rather sell you any item and make 10-15% rather than have you walk out with nothing and just buy it on the net.

I list everything in my store at map pricing except Audison

if you act like an asshat when you come into my store it will get laid out just like this .......

O you want a deal? Can you walk into target and ask to get 100.00 that 400.00 LCD tv??? NO!

I know you can buy it on the net for cheaper, but again you came her. And that's because of the service you get if you ever have issues.

Same rules apply to car audio shops. I don't have to give "deals" but I do it that way you will tell your buddies that Ray at audio innovations hooked you up, was straight up with up. Gave you options, and can offer warrenties that you can't find anywhere else.

And I would love to have a shop like yours around here but that's not the case, for them it's all about the money. I watched a guy pay 1200 bucks for 2 pioneer shallow mounts and a jl audio 500 watt amp at one of our local shops, no lie. You can get that for 400 bucks online, thats robbery. And it was a guy that didn't know any better and pulled up in a brand new lifted F250 so they knew his daddy had money. I respect shop owners like you and if you had a shop here I'd be there all the time but I refuse to buy products from a shop that just wants to rob me. The only time you'll see me in my local shop is to use the TL for tuning. Even then they charge me out the ass to use that.

Edit: They charged like 600 something for the sub and amps, the other 600 was for a "custom" box, which I'm pretty sure was a nice prefab, and installation before anyone calls bullshit.

the messed up part was i bought wire from their and they guy told me it was $2.50 from 1/0 terminals but didn't have enough on me and when i want back a few days later they lady that works their tried to charge me $5 for them

so now im guna just order online

the local audio shop i go to, they are pretty knowledge able in car audio.. i know the shop owner personally and his price are reasonable.. and yes what Ray say about selling decks are true.. guess it come down to who is really in it for the love of this sport/hobby and who is in it for the money..

it varies from shop to shop.. some shops obviously try to rip you off.. for instance(sp?) if it is a well recognize shop.. they tend to charge for a name.. not quality.. i recently went to my local shop and it was a real good experience.. i got some pricing and it did not sound to horrible.. it was like 340 for a box, installation,wiring and some pioneer speakers.. and they where going to rewire anything that needed rewiring(my fuck ups) you guys have to keep in mind that some shops have their warranty on things .. such as speakers amps and subs.. which in the long term may even save u money if u mess something up.. like when my brother blew about 5 sets of infinity speakers one after the other on my dads truck.. the guys kept changing them for 5-10 bucks.. well..w.e. let me just quit typing.. to each his own..

The guys up front are in it for the $$. But the installers in the back could care less about what brand they treat it the same. u walk in wit re,fi,dc etc. they wanna check it out and read up on it and help u.
