1992Chevy K1500
So I used to have a good method for removing swirls. Unfortunately, the local auto stores (only 3 of them around) dropped one of the product lines I used. I used the meguiars 3 step deep crystal paint system before they dropped it completely. Does anyone know any good products that would replace these? They were paint cleaner (not car wash, but a seperate cleaner similar to wax), polish, and wax. Or if anyone knows a better way to remove swirls and light scratches, please let me know. SQMonte
Plenty of other products out there that can be had OTC that are superior to that 3 step system. The steps aren't going to change, just the products being used. To replace the "Cleaner", use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Don't let the word "compound" fool you, it's nothing like rubbing compound like we once knew it. This stuff is sick! It get rids of oxidation/swirls/water spots, but gently enough that it doesn't marr or scratch your clear coat in the process. Then you'd need to polish, use Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Bodyshop Professional Hand Polish The best OTC wax i've found to this day is S100, it can be had at your local Harley Davidson dealership. With these products, not only will they do a better job, they are easier to use as well. 1992Chevy K1500
Thanks. The wax would be hard to get a hold of. The nearest Harley dealership is nearly 1 hour away. But I'll get in my next trip over that way. One more question. My paint looks pretty horriible even with most of the swirls gone (long story short, car washes with brushes and bristles and mud don't mix). I saw some product called "ColorRestore" (or something like that) on the shelf at one of the auto parts stores. Would that help or not? I'll post a pic if I can, but pics don't quite capture the extent of the damage. 1992Chevy K1500
Random orbital if I'm not mistaken (I'd have to check, haven't used it in a while).
