Port Question

Recommended Posts

Alright, I just bought 2 Lightning Audio PCH-AP4's which iare 2 4" dia. aeroports which I am putting in my box I am currently building and it came with a formula to determine the port length, which I did but something didnt seem right. I'm not sure how to use the formula for 2, the formula is Lv=(8466.4R squared/(Vb)Fb squared) -1.463R

Lv= port length in inches Vb=volume of box in cubic feet Fb=tuning frequency R=Radius

My box is 4.16551 cu. ft. amd I want it tuned to 30Hz, the ports radius is 2.03, but remember there 2 of them

thanks for the help

I got a length of 14.41 inches to tune to 30 hz

thanks, so each port should be about 7.2 in. long???

And another question, do you think a single 12" Alpine Type-R would be able to handle this size of box for awhile until I get my BTL???

Well each port tube is 12" long, thats the way they came and I'll be giving it about 300watts RMS, you think she'll be fine
