Ever since my HU went screwey, I've decided to build my own carputer instead of using my old laptop. Before I start, I was wondering if there were any sound cards that had high enough quality outputs that I could run the amplifiers off of their output rather than the HU?

If it helps, I was thinking of going with this case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811144232

I want that one because the color matches the interior of my truck.

My comp setup (Not bad for what it is):

HP Compaq Presario V6120US laptop with:

15.4" widescreen

AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6GHz processor

2x1GB stick DDR2 SDRAM (667 Mhz)

Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA HDD

128MB shared video memory

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

12 cell Lithium Ion battery (actual battery usage time: 6 hours)

What it does:

On a USB 2.0 Wireless card

BRB, I'll find something badass for you

Never used this card, but for clarity, this should be the cats ass ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductRevie...N82E16829132005 ) It is PCIe, so I hope your using a newer type motherboard

**EDIT** also this one ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16829132010 )

Ouch! Those cards are high. Let's put it this way, my per month budget is about the same as those cards. Do you have anything a bit lower?

i got 2 if you want one i got a soundblaster 5.1 surround sound with the drive bay and remote and an audigy 2 7.1 surround sound with built in firewall and if you want i'll trade for some stereo stuff

Do you think the 5.1 would be good enough for my system? I'm could probably run the mids and subs off the same channel as long as I use seperate amps.

If so, how much do you want for the 5.1? I don't have anything worth trading. And I'm about to blow my money this weekend on MDF and glass, so I won't be able to buy right away.

the 5.1 should be fine i have it hooked in my computer now but the motherboard crapped out but i'm looking for 75+shipping or best offer thats a great deal on what it is though you can control all the audio functions via the remote and you can hook some stuff up to the drive bay if you had some 0 gage though i would just charge shipping or if you had something willing to trade thats about the same price the 7.1 i'm only asking 50 for +shipping

Which one has higher quality in your opinion? And what are the interfaces?

both are for pc and honestly i dont know off the top of my head the slot type but they both are really good sound cards especially for being acouple of years old really its just what you need them for for just listening to tunes i'd say go with the 7.1 with the firewall it sounds great and it doesnt take up any drive bay space
