go to www.alienware.com

pick the Alienware Area-51 and choose EVERY OPTION including SLI cards (with the exception of the physics processor and monitor)

Quad 2.66 processor

dual 8800GTX SLI, 2 harddrives (one is a Raptor)

1000w power supply etc.....

tell me how much you come up with and ill tell you if your close although others have already answered it on other posts. Lets just say i could have bought a decent car for the money i spent on the tower alone.

I would rather have 4 gigs of ram then waste my money on a quad core, most programs arent even capable of using a quad core. Would make a great heater though. My buddy has an alienware, wasnt too impressed, some games lagged and he got it last year, its got 2 gigs of ram and a dual core processor (2.6GHz), 7 series GeForce... My custom desktop is faster, and I have had it 3 years... Its all about that stupid name on the computer...

you can buy an alienware and not get all the options, but still have an Alienware. A 7 series Geforce is OK by itself (by last years standards) but you need 2 cards and SLI before your machine turns into a REAL powerhouse.

Sorry to tell you but 4 gigs is just as big a waste as you think the quadcore is LOL.......put up your 3dmark scores and we can compare whether or not your 3yr old computer can hang with mine ;)

your right it sorta is just a name though, i could have built it no problem and would have almost CERTAINLY chose the same exact parts. The only difference here is i didnt feel like it this time so i treated myself to one that was built for me......
