Blown voice coils or cheap dmm?

Well this BTL is suppose to be dual 2 so I metered them. Mind you, this is a cheap ass $3 one from Harbor Freight. So my question is, are the VC's blown or is this just a cheap and inaccurate meter. Or are these possibly Dual 1's?

Possibly all of the above. Cheap dmm plus possibly dual 1's.

DMM's have a small resistor/wire in them for calibration upon assembly. It's just a small wire soldered into the board at 2 points about an inch apart. Adjustments are made by moving unsoldering this wire and moving it into and out of the board. .. This adjustment was obviously not made on this DMM.

Edit: took out img code to not reply pictures..

if each is reading 2.9ohms its more likely dual 2 ohm... since it reads 1.8ish on each coil

the coils likely wouldnt read the same if the sub was "blown"

so its the cheap meter

those harbor freight meters are VERY inaccurate, pickup at least a craftsman or something. Also you have to keep the cone very steady, if the cone starts to move the impedance will start jumping around.

Too Much Stuff to list .

Blah... this comes up about once a month.

The DC resistance of a '2 ohm' coil is usually about 1.4 ohms. 2 ohms is the Z (Impedance) not the Re (DC resistance)

2.9-1.6=1.3 ohms which is pretty damn near for a shitty meter reading something with that low resistance.
