97SSBlazer Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 the last system i had in my 97 blazer was 2 L7 12's on an old school 1500.1 (sharkfin) which hit 144.6 (TL). I sold it am now looking at new subs. My buddy works at best buy as an installer and like the Alpine type r 15's (He drives a 01 Jimmy with 4 15" T1's so he knows loud) When i went to the two local shops they both suggested Alpine R's. One shop offered me the 15's for 350.00, Which is a great price. Oh and i need the new setup by this Sunday for a local show. The L7's won me third last time, will the R 15's be louder? Quote lower tuning is just hard. J00bles Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 they will be louder than the type r's, but you wont get them in a couple of days. if you're in a bind and need subs, then go with the r's. they are still great subs that will make some noise. AI James Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 louder is all relative. theres a guy on the forums whos got a 150 with a single type r 10 on a burp non musical. for the price youll have a hard time getting somethign the same performance as Type R's unless you have some inside tract or hookup with some company. Is there better out there , yea sure there is, but for the price its pretty slim pickens. Quote

I have been going there for like 4 yrs now and have a good relationship with the installers. I always build my own boxes and do all my own alarm/starter wiring.
