my amp is in protect mode it is a sony xm-1652z 1000 watt amp with two hifonics hfi12d4s is their a way to get it back out of protect mode it stays in without any subs hooked up

what ohm load do you have it wired to? i dont think those amps are 1 ohm stable

i have seen a few amps go into protect, and sadly never recover, usually something internally wrong/damaged.

What have you done since the amp went into protect? Did you check your voltage and load impedance?

Try removing the speaker leads and RCA jacks from the amp and seeing if it still goes into protection when you power it up.

I can't say more than everything already posted, so... Maybe a loose ground?

I had my Hifonics go into protection and never return after I had a vacant speaker wire hold a ground for a while (no subs were hooked up and neither were the RCA's. Pull the fuse when you take your subs out!! Hard lesson...)

My latest project; 87 Accord Hatchback!... Only got my 6 1/2's in it right now... I'm working on shining my engine to show quality right now, then I'll put it in. System will come around the 1st.

yeah id say the amp is proble defective... not to be an ass but the brand is proble your biggest problem
