tequila Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Im getting an 18" Fi Q soon and according to the Fi Audio website the reccomended box tuning frequency is 28hz. Ive never tuned below 33hz and think 28hz is rather low for a subwoofer thats only gonna get thousand watts. Will the sub sound good at 28 hz, the box size will be around 8cubes? Or should i tune a bit higher? I dont have any experience with 18s! Beanz Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 id say just tune the box at 35. That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.

OldsBoomer Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 what kind of music do u listen to ? i would go with ...like 30-32Hz x2 and they say that cuz the Fs is low for the 18 well extremely low meaning that it can take that low tunning my 15 hits low as shit and its the Q and i gave it around 1400 watts atleast off an AQ2200 so get bp power and i wouldn't tune below 30 but they can take some serious power trust me Suburban Coming Soon
E a r t h Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 seeing is how ive had the same setup, imo its a monster in 8 tuned at 28hz. it smashes the lows like that, and sounds good.only problem is output for higher rap or metal bass is somewhat lacking. mine has bp option and was powered by a sundown 1500@1ohm. i have since changed my tune to 34hz and is much better for producing more music with a reduction in the really low stuff. i recommend highly not to go above that with the 18Q as it loves lower tuning alot better imo. i now have an saz 3k on it, so it can handle the power, just not as much as im giving it for most people
