The shape of my trunk, and air pressure. Please help

Hello! I'm gonna be makin a box for my two 12" Alpines, but my trunk orientation is a little weird.

I usually drive with my back seats down because it's a lot louder, and I wanna make sure this box is louder than the pre-fab I have.

Here's a pretty-amateur illustration. Please excuse how bad it is, I'm more of an English/History person.

Basically I have two gaps of space between the trunk the box (where the blue is), and I'm curious if it's better to keep the gaps there to help the sound get into the cabin, or if it's better to seal it off and have a wider rather than deeper box. My trunk is pretty big so I have a lot to work with.

if you seal the box and trunk up from each other with the subs facing the rear it wont be as loud/let in as much air. not sure if you have tried facing forward but if you have and it sounds good you can seal it off then. i did that with my setup and love it sealed off facing forward but then again our setuos are totally dif

I have the same type of trunk, and found that it got louder firing the subs into the cabin, and if you fire the subs and port into the cabin and seal it off from the trunk, that would give you the best results.

Damn cracker beat me to it! lol

I noticed that it was twice as loud when I faced the subwoofers towards the trunk

I would still try firing them foward "sealed off" and if its still not louder then you could go back to how it was. Just test, test, test.

ah gotcha. well for what its worth when i changed mine around at first, sounded less then before sealed, louder after. if ya have some blankets or pilows or something like that laying around you could face it forward and temp seal it with that stuff, just for trial purposes. just an idea though mang
