You gotta find someone who can do it, never heard of doing it yourself. You take it apart and replace the parts that get the most wear (brushes, bendix, springs,etc, anything that looks trashed inside the case) and I'd swap out the solenoid if it's a starter mounted version. You can take it to AutoZone and have it bench tested for free and I would before I tried to rebuild it or buy a new one. Personally, I would get a new one since any decent version will come w/ a Limited Lifetime Warrenty and if it ever goes out again you can swap it out. Avoid a pick n pull version or anything NOT LLT warrentied-they only put a 1yr on it cuz they kno it's a shitty rebuild I see it errday. Good luck.
