yea, that wouldnt be too bad...that actually wouldnt be too bad at all come to think of it

the only thing i dont like about most calcs is that u dont know if port length is the physical length of the wood, or the measurement down the middle of the port....which really is only a problem with "L" shaped ports...because its multiple pieces of wood, but one measurement, and the actuall length of the port that is measured down the middle is going to be quite longer than the wood used to make it...

The port length would actually be the average length of the long wall and the short wall in an L port. which would also be the number used for displacement. So in essence, for calculation sake, all ports are straight. .. At least that's the way it's coming to me at the moment.. i've been up for 18 hours already.

u may be right...i remember fighting with this a few years ago when i did this spreadsheet....and it seemed like i sat down for hours with pencil and paper and toying with the idea of "all ports are straight in theory" idea....but i dont remember...may have to do it again.

see...i get a net volume of 7.468 with those dimensions...not 6.932

...and i dont feel like sitting down to do all the number crunching to find the discrepency right now...

Yeah i loaded in my numbers from page 1 and it didn't add up. i'll go through my formulas and see what's going on.

it all sounds simple in theory....but once u sit down with pen and paper, do a few sketches, run thru a few scenarios for hours...u begin to realize making a simple program isnt so simple...and questions will arise that cant be answered...

i spent days and days doing sketches and number crunching in college...learned a lot, but also raised more questions for me...
