k3n12ock
So I just received the DC LVL4/5 from capalass23 and installed it into the old box I had my BTL. Well, after about 20 minutes of play I smell "stuff"so I pull over. I touch the dustcap and it's warm. WTF. Same thing happened to the Type R I had in the car previously. This never happened when I had the BTL in it. So am I still overpowering the DC? I mean it's 1500rms correct? I'm using an ap15001d, 1/4 way gain on the amp, bass boost 0, subsonic about halfway, LPF about 50? At first I was wondering if it was the sub but I'm thinking it may be the amp. Any help? BTW, The coils on both the DC and Type R still read 2ohms. VistaV6
I think the level 4/5 should devour an AP1500....my vote would be amp messed up. k3n12ock
Well, I have a cheapo Pioneer deh4900. Settings on that are: Bass +4, HPF 80, slam(?) 0, b-6, m+2,h+4, 120+6. I am however using the blue thing from behind the deck for an iPod. But yeah, never had these problems with the Fi BTL. Could it be the Batcap800? Not sure it is or even has to do with anything. Not sure it is or even has to do with anything. i have a pioneer deh-6900 & I was using the blue connector in the back for an ipod but now im just using the usb. I think you might be able to down some of the settings on your HU & turn the amp up more. Thats what I did. I had my HU doing way more that it really needed too. My settings are: bass 0, HPF off, EQ is diff from yours but 50hz is +2 at the max, sub level is 0 @ 80 hz. I know my settings are different but it might help you. I had my amps getting stanky after a few minutes of slammage. EricR
yea its just the glue on the vc warming up. the 18's i have do it also but i touch the dustcap and its not even remotely warm so i don't really see a problem but i would suggest setting your gains with a DMM Quote i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
