bigjsurdaddy
i went to a comercial electric store yesterday and asked about 1/0 gauge copper wire. they said that they can get it from there warehouse and it was only $1.60 a ft. i looked at some 4/0 that he had lying around in the back and it was a fine strand wire, pretty flexable and the copper was the side of my thumb. so the 1/0 would be smaller i know, but the question is, is regular electic/welding wire ok to us for power or is there some big difference between that and audio power wire? lanman31337
Usually it's strand count. As long as the core itself is the same size, you're good. Strand count makes things more flexible. 2 - Audiopipe AP30001Ds 1 - Lanzar Opti Scion 600.4 4 - Lanzar Optidrive 1232D's 1 - Lanzar Opti 5.1 1 - Lanzar Opti 6.1 1 - Lanzar Opti 6C midbass 1 - Alphasonic PCT6551 1 - Lanzar VX830 1 - JBL 22 band EQ 1 - Lanzar SDBT75NU 1 - AudioControl Epic160
bigjsurdaddy
ok, thanks. i called my local audio place and they said that it would make it sound like shit and that the sound travels through it different. i was like what sound. it's power not speaker cable. he probably thought they could sell me the stuff they carry for like $6 a foot. bigjsurdaddy
if you can fold it in half and tie it in a not then it's pretty good right.
bigredishott
my dad was having his house service upgraded to 200 amps last year. I asked the electrician, he said,"DC current travels on the out side of the wire, AC thru the wire" Then he said, " This is why you want a high strand count". I personally would have never guessed.
