ah, so even though it 20 bux more, its only dual channel, but its 2.8ghz clock speed vs the 2.66 on the 920, so all in all the 920 is the better one?

more or less........YES! I would choose a i920 for that reason, however the i920 is fading out as it was discontinued by Intel so it wouldn't compete with the i7 skt 1156 version in its or near its price range. i5 is still a VERY FAST Cpu, dont get me wrong, and for what most people do on a day to day basis, the difference between dual channel, and triple channel wouldn't even be noticed. I wouldnt think that you would need a 25000mb/sec throughput VS 15000mb/sec for dual channel.

That is a loaded question bro. What are you coming from (IE. Core2, pentium4, AMD64 athlon, what???) It is my understanding that a Core i5 750, is atleast 35% (at worst case senerio) then a C2Q Q6600. There are benchies all over the net. There was a few cases where it was 60+% faster. Really depends on the programs being used. Core i5 is really a GREAT CPU all around. Another big difference between core i5 and i7 (I forgot to mention above) Core i5 DOES NOT HAVE HT ENABLED, SO IT THREADING WORKS LIKE THIS: 4CORES, 4 THREADS. Core i7 has HT enabled, so its threading is like this: 4 cores, 8 threads!!..... I look at it this way, if your secondary parts are still worth keeping (HDD, GPU, PSU, Monitor, etc...) All you need to do is buy the bigIII (bigIII here means, mobo, cpu, ram) so far SUB 500$ you can have the latest stuff out, and its FAAAAAAAAST!
