installing an in dash dvd player

I am helping my friend install an in dash dvd player and everything works but when u try to play dvds it says shit about the parking brake or whatever. is there any way to wire both the parking brake and the reverse bulb wire so that you can play dvds while driving(not for the driver to watch but for the passengers.) we tried to install the wires to power and then to the remote turn on and the unit just says no signal detected. idk wtf to do. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

if its a pinoeer the wire is a lite green in color. or what ever wire it says to put to ebrake.

what i did was grounded the wire with a switch in the middle i.e green wire from hu to switch to ground. pinoeer you have to switch twice. i use a rotry switch for a lamp. mounted under dash. two turns and presto i can watch while on the go

other way if you have it hook up the way its supost to be just click the parking brake one notch

this will turn off day time runnin lites on chevys

the reverse signal line (usually purple) will switch the unit into "rear view mode" if it sees 12 volts. this is only if you have a reverse camera, if you dont just leave it disconnected for now. the parking brake wire is usually light green or pink (if you have an alpine, get a part called a ptr7 from peripheral, itll do the bypass for ya)>

read the manual...if it says you have to do some brake on brake off reverse thing (which im guessing...which means you have an alpine) get a ptr7

if it says it needs to see a parking brake on/off/on or parking brake on after ignition, put a switch in and flip it a few times till video shows

if it doesnt specify, just touch the brake wire to the radio chassis and turn the car on, if video plays just tie it in with the ground (black wire)

i assume no responsibility for anything happening while you watch the screen, or anything you do to it in the installation process, but that should be a given.

For my Pioneer I just hooked up a toggle switch to the ebrake wire from the unit and it works fine
