Kicker L7 vs RE sxx ???

I am looking at buying a pair of 12s, trying to stay 500 or under. I can get a pair of RE sxx12s or the Kicker L7 Solobaric 12s. My questions are; since I listen to a lot of rock with very little rap what would be best. They will go in a ported box tuned around 38hz.

I have always heard anything RE is quality, and anything Kicker is crap. But a lot of people use Kicker.......Around here all I can get is Toby or Rockford Fosgate. The Tobys are great but the bandpasses take too much room. RF stuff I think it too expensive.

So.......between the two I have list I need some opinions, what will they handle daily?? Which one is going to be better quality and last longer??

I have had some systems before, but this is my first actual build, not just throwing a bunch of stuff together to get loud.

Well the RE SX handles 1000 Watts RMS while, L7's only handle 750 Watts RMS.

Kicker is a great successful company but I would go with RE as a personal Opinion. Sure people hear bad things about kicker because everybody has them and wants them, (Some or Most of those people are first time audio "users" and just blow them because lack of knowledge)

BTW what amp are you gonna be running it with, and electrical upgrades?

I haven't decided on an amp yet. I plan on doing the big three, with a good battery and alternator over 200 amps(probably 250amp).

If the box is built for what I want does it really matter which subwoofer I choose??? <--I guess that's my main concern, is getting something like the REs and not liking them for my listening style.

either one would fit the bill, how you like either of them to sound is more in the enclosure than anything.

in 12" versions, the L5 is RMS at 600 and L7 is 750

somtimes its not what people say or what u hear, many times it has to do with the person behind the equipment RE is a good brand but have used the two and kicker gives u more for your money, i say the L7 in my opinion

only if pushed past mechanical limits............if that happened, you hardly can't blame the woofer.

i'll blame your install on that one, ive installed many pairs on sundown 3ks and RF 3ks and they are still bumping to this day. as you so eliquintly(sp) stated your box makes or breaks the woofer
