MTX J30 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 i have a pair of sundown z15s i put in last night and i will play them at volume 30/62 for a minute but i get rly nervous that im breaking them and i turn it down. once in a while i smell new sub smell and idk if thats the subs burning or an actual new sub smell. Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"

andym85 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 imo breaking in a sub is a myth...dont know how true it is though... i always install, make sure everything works, then turn that bish up!!!! just go back and feel the dustcap after you have been playing them for awhile...and if they arent warm, then u are all good! i likes me some audio stuff...
Gotloud555 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 You can tell if you sub are broken by putting you hand on top on the subwoofer cone and push it down gently. IF feel soft then it almost broken up. That just one of the way to tell if a woofer in broken in.
Cr@sh Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 I believe it was more of an issue years ago, with new technologies and materials being used to make woofers I can't imagine it being a problem at all. I dropped the 4-15" BTL's in with 10k on them and cranked it, no break in! My old install at cardomain, never finished!
