Hey guys, Im doin my first build and I'm in the amp shopping stage. I found some 1000 and 1100 watt crunch amps for like 80-100 bucks. Ive been told go with a trusted brand but I am wondering if a 250-400 watt name brand amp if better than a 1000 or 1100 watt crunch amp...or boos for that matter....Thanks for your time

in car audio, you get what you pay for.

X2 and could you post a link or model number of the amp so that we can see what you are looking at. Also what kind of subs do you have.

Car is 2010 Scion Tc

Currently in car

Deck- Sony XAV-60 in-dash mobile video system

Speakers- Rockford Punch 6.5in comps in the front and coax in the rear

Subs- 2 Gen 3 Rockford P3 12's dual 4 ohm

Amps- Rockford P1000-1bd and P400-4 Alpine Mrp-f300 is in for P400-4 which is out to service

Wiring- all rockford nuff said

Enclosure- Dual 12in custom box by SRQ

Battery- Optima Yellow top with big 3 done

Sound Damping- All Dynamat products 1-2 layers throughout with liner on top

Well you could have a cheaper amp that does like 30-40% what it is rated for, and doesnt output the cleanest power, or you could have a reputable amp that most likely puts out 10-15% more power than rated and does this with a very clean output.

Edit: The only Crunch amp I would ever own is the Crunch3000GP.

I did what you did and just got some entry level power but I really should have saved my money and bought the sundown amp I was looking at, like they said you pay for quality and trying to pay the least amount and half ass it could leave you with some burnt coils!
