how about you show a picture of a rockford fosgate 3000 watt amp, since that is what the kole is rated at.

the amp will work alright.

set the amp to 1500rms and it should be able to handle that alright.

let us know ow it performs.

oh, and you said you got it cheap. how cheap? if you got a 1500rms amp for 100-150 bucks, then kudos to you

Not to be an ass, but I doubt it. At 70% efficiency at 13.8 volts, it'll do about 1400 RMS or so. I'd set it at 1K even for the best result.

My comp setup (Not bad for what it is):

HP Compaq Presario V6120US laptop with:

15.4" widescreen

AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6GHz processor

2x1GB stick DDR2 SDRAM (667 Mhz)

Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA HDD

128MB shared video memory

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

12 cell Lithium Ion battery (actual battery usage time: 6 hours)

How would i know it is set @ 1000 RMS? Would it be bad for the orion to underpower it? So you guys dont think I could blow this sub with this amp?

I think the orion 10" hcca is 1500 RMS

Im seeing about equal numbers of caps, transistors, power supply winding.... I dont know. I paid 300$ for the sub and the amp. So, about $150 VS $1849.99. Anyone who knows amps, any imput?

But I think most of the reviews are by people that havent had many amps before or the ones that just upgraded from there Sony Amps, sure it may be louder than the sony but they arent gonna know they are not getting all the power advertised, they probably dont know that 150 amps of fusing means the amp does no where near rated, and all the other factors, they just see that it says 5500max and thinks thats a bigger number than what my current amp is, also most the people that review this amp have never dropped 1200-1600 on a true 4000rms amp.

And about the internals, just because they have the same amount doesnt mean that they are the same quality, or designed to make a true 4000rms. The parts in the true 4000k amps are built much stronger. One example is SoundDigital they have less Fets than an amp of equal power and the fets may look exactly the same, but internally the fet is built up more than the counterpart giving it the amp the ability to be smaller by using less parts, but the parts being much stronger.

law of physics buddy

if it cant draw more than 150a (maybe 155a before poppin) then u wont have any more than that X ur voltage

150*14.4v = 2160... and thats a 100% efficient amp... which doesnt exist

so

2160*80% efficiency (average of most amps at 4ohms mind u!) = 1728watts and that is pushing the amplifier at max capabilities

so add in voltage drop and real world 1-2ohm operation

150*13.5v = 2025

2025*70% (closer to 1 ohm operation) = 1417watts

so 1300-1700 watts is what that can do at 1ohm

so their power ratings are max, and overrated

So basically, if you don't have a Oscope, just pick a wattage under 1300 and set it with a DMM, right? (Just wanna be sure).
