Boon Posted October 9, 2009 Report Share Posted October 9, 2009 At max gain it takes about 0.2v input to drive a modern amp into clipping. Probably less with bass boost. So he's pretty certain to be clipping the balls off it... unless he's using something like a Kicker with the input level switch set to high... they can take like 15v inputs... Decaf Posted October 9, 2009 Report Share Posted October 9, 2009 is it an alpine deck, if so turn the sub level to 15 and reset gains/bass boost, i bet after that u will hear more distortion turn the bass boost off and use the gain... im gonna guess the gain will be at 3/4 which is usually the 2v position, which most alpine decks are i couldnt even tell u a company that makes a cd player that produces less than 2v output, hence u really never need to go past 3/4 gain, if u do u have other issues and yes, i can hear moderate clippin, then again i blast music all day into my ears w/headphones which is totally different than in a bassy car.... i notice clipped kick drums alot, it keeps me away from alot of songs because of that Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
