audiofanaticz Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 MLA is the only thing you can add to a internally regulated alternator that is either a stock alt, or a high output alt. Externally adjustable regulators run around $90-110 plus shipping. In order to use them, your alternator has to be converted to do so, which would cost you around $50-100 plus shipping. The external regulators are litteritly cheap china crap. Even with the massive heatsinks the heat up and burn out every so often. You can also get a Internal adjustable regulator. No idea on price, never really like them as much vs the external regulator. The knob to adjust the voltage output is on the back of the alternator, on some vehicles you wont be able to change the voltage easily if not at all dependent on alt location. Most your alternator companies will be able to set you up with getting either style regulator, and converting your high output alt to work with it (for a price of coarse).
