Long story short I want to get louder and Im running 4 jl 12'' w3v2s off an AQ 1200 amp does 1470 rms @ 1 ohm so the subs are gettin just over 300 rms a piece. I only have about 4-4.25 cubes to work with. Should I build a better box for my 12s that fire up rather than downfire like they all are now or try and sell the 12s and upgrade to 2 apline type r 15s. I picked the type rs because they are recomended 1.75 cuft per sub sealed which I have room for and the amp could push 700 rms to each of them (2 dual 4 ohm subs wired to 1 ohm) Im looking to be loud not necessarily for Tl number but for my own love for bass tickling my ears and being heard coming from far away.

sell the 12's and buy more powerful and better 12's and do two...

myabe Fi ssd's i know they get loud... or maybe the Q's they sound amazing...... 3.8-4.25 cube encloser tuned to like 34Hz would be loud

the only reason im leaning more towards the 15s is I feel like 2 15s will be louder than most 2 12 setups off the same power and from my experiences 15s get lower and i like low bass the best . all jeezy stuff I like those types of lows

That not really true... thats like saying a 18 has a slow response and cant get the punchy notes....

if it were me i would do 2 DC lvl 3 15 though .... thats my opinion!

e-mail rusty and see what kind of price he coud give you on those ..

Keep your subs for now and just throw more power to them, 1200 isnt alot so id get a larger amp to power those.

he did say w3's not w6 or w7 --- there not made for much power over that TBH!

I had 3 10w3v3 dual 6 wire to 1 ohm on a memphis 1000 d and lol ---- the coil left the former on the first set...replace them and lost 3 coils 1 on each sub ....

so they only had roughly 380 watts each and they were not clipping either . from then on my jl days were over !

cheapest option is to rebuild the box.... i would redo the box and see what happens.... build the box extra nice cause worst case you sell the subs with the box...

Full eclipse system is next on list.. soon to gut and redo the honda as new project/rolling buissness card :)

i miss the sound of those old school strokers on beast amps :(

I had a pair of original 12w3's way back when they first came out and put 1200 to the pair i had with no problems so thats why im saying more power to what he already has. But sadly getting loud is never cheap or easy but i would say to start with a more powerful amp and work off of that.
