chapo123 Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 okay wait so im new to the bass knob things. just hooked it up in my brothers car for him. i set the gain by ear (i know but cant find nor afford a oscope) with the knob all the way up at +18 (its a t1000.1bd) even though i set it with the gain with teh knob on its still clipping????? Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked. i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat 2 sa12s, saz1500 build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91183-chapo123s-sundown-build-log/page__gopid__1250604entry1250604

If you tune the amp without the bass knob plugged in, and it's not clipping...plugging in the bass knob and turning it all the way up will not clip it. The bass knob does not "over run" the gain settings on the amp. With it turned all the way up, it will not go higher than the gain is turned. 06 Mini Cooper S Sundown, SoundQubed Cadence, XS Power 151s Sealed 155s Outlaw Windshield @ 37hz
chapo123 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 so you sure that wont cause it to clip?? so imma set the gains without it plugged in to get the max i can w/o clipping then turn up the bass boost up to +18?? The remote bass knob does not over ride the gain knob. So when you have the bass knob turned all the way up, it will not go any higher than the gain knob is turned on the amplifier. So as long as the amp is not clipping before plugging the remote bass knob in, turning it all the way up will not cause it to clip. And... IIRC when you use the bass knob it lowers the gain by a few .##'s. If you tune it with a DMM, then plug the knob up, then look at the reading, it should be a few .#'s lower, which isn't a big deal. 06 Mini Cooper S Sundown, SoundQubed Cadence, XS Power 151s Sealed 155s Outlaw Windshield @ 37hz
