dont do it, a stock motor will sound awful with straight pipes, just get a nice set of mufflers, if you want loud get a set of pypes violators

I wouldnt do it tho if you really want to add some power remove the Cats and put in O2 simulators I hear that its worth like 50hp

I did a Magnaflow system in mine and it sounds pretty nice I also Put in the K&N cool air intake when I got it home from the shop from gettin the exhaust done and after doing both I noticed a little difference in power. the exhaust is supposed to add 12-15 Hp and the intake is the same so 20-30 from these 2 things combined. The exhaust isnt obnoxiously loud though its more of a smooth low purr, thats what i personally like .

Uhh there is alot of mis information in this thread. I have straights on my 2000 silverado and noticed alot of improvment power wise. I have a thread under the performance section with mine.
